About the event
Intimately getting to know our neighbors in the natural world, be they plants, animals, rocks, rivers, trees, wind directions, weather patterns, etc., is an invaluable, universal, ancient tenet of humanity. Uncivilized humans throughout time have depended on their intimate relationships with the other living and nonliving members of the community of life to thrive. Â Tree identification, then, is a key human skill and intrinsic to the rewilders' path.
Tree identification is tougher in winter, when most trees have lost their leaves! Let's connect, get outside on a wintry afternoon, and learn to employ simple techniques to effectively identify most trees by their location, bark appearance and growth patterns. Dress warm! Donations of $5-10 [tax-deductible!] will be graciously accepted.Â
NOTE: Due to the ongoing international COVID-19 pandemic, preventative measures will be strictly enforced. Please wear a mask or a cloth covering over your face, maintain physical distancing throughout the class, and do not attend if you are feeling unwell.
Rewild Maine is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We depend on donations from the community to offer free classes and workshops and we are grateful for your support. Scholarships are always available for paid classes on an as-needed basis and nobody will ever be turned away for lack of funds. If you need financial assistance, please contact us. All donations are tax-deductible.
