About the event

Identifying wild plants is an ancient, invaluable human skill. Plants provide food, medicine, useful materials for tools, supplies and more. Indeed, humans worldwide have cultivated healthy relationships with wild plants, and all non-humans, for hundreds of thousands of years outside the realm of industrial civilization.

Join us for a walking tour of wild edible plants on the Western Prom. We'll teach how to identify, responsibly gather, and effectively use edible and medicinal plants. We'll meet at the corner of Western Promenade and Carroll Street, and walk a short loop around the Prom. You may want to bring a notepad or a camera to document what you learn. We will provide some free, very tasty snacks made from foraged ingredients!

NOTE: This class will be held entirely outdoors, rain or shine. Please dress appropriately. The class will begin promptly at the scheduled time. We will not be actively foraging during the class.

Space in this class is limited. Preregistration, along with a paid deposit, is required to reserve a spot in the class. Deposits may be fully refunded in the event of a cancellation a week or more before the class, if the space is filled. Refunds for last-minute cancellations are unfortunately not available. Please plan accordingly. Contact Rewild Maine at (207) 449-7738 or rewildmaine@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Rewild Maine is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We depend on donations from the community to offer free classes and workshops and we are grateful for your support. Scholarships are always available for paid classes on an as-needed basis and nobody will ever be turned away for lack of funds. If you need financial assistance, please contact us. All donations are tax-deductible.
