Mud Oven Building

Cooking and baking are ancient human skills! Other related skills include: hauling and setting stones to create a foundation, digging clay from the river bed, mixing the cob for the oven's domed roof, and working together for a common goal. Throughout history and around the world, people have been using mud and stones to create wood-fired ovens that allow for cooking and baking bread, pizza, vegetables, meats, and more.

Learn how to build a mud oven! From the plinth that supports the oven, to the insulated earthen dome of the oven, to a simple rain shield above, we will get down and dirty and share in this lovely creative process with you. Weekend One will be the primary build and Weekend Two we will polish it off and have a pizza, bread and roasted veggies party. $60 for 3 days, includes lunches, snacks and pizza party.

Space in this class is limited. Preregistration, along with a paid deposit, is required to reserve a spot in the class. Deposits may be fully refunded in the event of a cancellation a week or more before the class, if the space is filled. Refunds for last-minute cancellations are unfortunately not available.
