About the event
Humans worldwide have been using animal skins as fabric for thousands of years, if not more. This is an ancient, invaluable human skill. Learn to process animal hides into strong leather, which can be used to make durable clothing, shoes, bags and other items that, if properly cared for, will last for several lifetimes. We'll be working on a few different hides which are all at different stages of completion. We'll cover scraping, cleaning, wringing, dressing, hand- and frame-softening, and smoking.
You should bring a water bottle, lunch and whatever snacks you might want for yourself; dress in clothes you won't mind getting dirty.
