About the event
Toys are important! Humans have been making toys for fun using organic, natural materials for hundreds of thousands of years. One such toy is the slip-bark whistle. Argue about how old it is, but there's no disagreement when it comes to how much fun it is to use these musical instruments, also known as May-whistles for the season in which they are most easily made.
Learn to make a slip-bark May-whistle, along with ring-and-stick balero (reminiscent of cup-and-ball) and a few other stick-based toys. We'll also cover the basics of safe knife carving. Everyone will make a brand-new toy to take home!
