About the event
Acorns, or oak nuts, have remained an important and nutritious food source for many animals, including humans, around the world, for hundreds of thousands of years. The oak tree has sustained human civilization since its inception in countless ways, and acorns are still abundant, delicious and nutritious. Why have we in the Modern West neglected this truly wonderful superfood? How have we in our modern culture nearly forgotten how to harvest, honor and enjoy this incredible gift?
Learn how to identify, gather, process store, and use acorns in the kitchen. We'll cover identification, collection, storage, processing, cooking, and consumption. Bring a basket to collect some acorns! Donations of $5-10 graciously accepted.
NOTE: Due to the ongoing international COVID-19 pandemic, preventative measures will be strictly enforced. Please wear a mask or a cloth covering over your face, maintain physical distancing throughout the class, and do not attend if you are feeling…
